This past weekend can only be described as perfect! We had been planning it and looking forward to it for quite some time! My husband, being a third year med student, has a less than envious schedule and this was the first time he had even a single day off in almost a month! So we took full advantage! We spent the days in beautiful Newport Beach and even the continuous rain did not get in the way of a weekend I already miss like crazy!

The last couple days here have been cloudy, dreary, and rainy. As I worked at home yesterday, wrapped in a blanket and listening to the rain come down for hours nothing sounded good for lunch except fresh, warm crepes. Not a typical lunch food, but it was just the thing to turn a cold work day into a cozy and delicious one.

After enduring almost an entire week of a terrible flu, the weekend was a welcome relief.
I was still not feeling at a hundred percent so we changed our plans and spent the days at home, venturing out only for a few short walks, dessert at a quiet, local restaurant, and the grocery store for supplies.
Thinking of going to work this morning almost feels strange, having spent all week at home. Although I can't say that it won't feel good to get out of the house, I think cabin fever is beginning to creep in. :)

This cake is divine! It combines two of my favorite things, chocolate and hazelnuts, and tastes like a giant macaron! Best of all it is not complicated to make or time consuming. We have been enjoying it all weekend!
